Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, and a new laptop

Man, I think Ubuntu is getting to me like a high school student experimenting with "soft drugs". Granted, I don't use it as much since it's installed as a dual boot with Vista, on a new laptop, but it still get's used once in a while.

Which reminds me: go out and buy a HP-DV5 laptop. You won't be let down. Well, you may be, if you don't get to configure it (like I couldn't), but this laptop has everything you need:  a Blu-Ray drive, two headphone jacks, a mediocore screen resolution of 1280x800 on a 15.4 inch wide screen, and some decent sounding speakers. Oh, and of course there's the next-gen Wireless-N adapter that's built-in ready to pick up any Wireless-N signals if there are any nearby. (Fear not though there's always B and G to fall back on).

That brings me to the following point: I hate laptops and wireless connections. I wish I had a wiredconnection everywhere that I could go. That would enable me to get some pretty high transfer speeds on the LAN, while bogging down the rest of the network ;). The reason why laptops suck: they're not modular enough, and usually don't have a nice high screen resolution. But otherwise they're good when you're travelling.

Sign up for Twitter!

Or don't. It's up to you. It's an interesting service that is basically like the Facebook/MySpace status message. Basically, that's all twitter is: a status message that anyone can view. The interesting thing about it is that you can send upates via your phone, which is really nice, because let's see you see something interesting on the streets, while you're out and about, you're not going to wait to get to home before you "twit" about it.

Sign up for it. It's really interesting.
I installed Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) about 3 weeks ago, and I found it really interesting. It does everything I need to do (browse forums and post here :p) and then some. There are many interesting things available on Ubuntu, such as Frozen-Bubble (don't install that game unless you want to waste a lot of hours spending playing the game).

Come to think of it, I'm not even sure why I've installed Ubuntu. Probably mainly because I've come to like it as it is, and I'm trying to expand my horizons. Anyways, that's all "news" wise".
